The Houston Astros have placed catcher Carlos Corporan on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Corporan was hurt during the third inning of Monday's game against Texas after being struck in the mask by a foul tip while behind the plate. In 50 games this season, he is batting .245 with seven homers and 17 RBI.

The Astros have brought up top prospect Max Stassi from Double-A Corpus Christi to serve as All-Star Jason Castro's backup. Stassi was hitting .277 with 17 homers and 60 RBI in 76 games for the Hooks.

In addition, Houston also designated pitcher Wade LeBlanc for assignment and selected the contract of pitcher David Martinez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Martinez, a 26-year-old right-hander, was a combined 14-3 with a 2.20 ERA in 28 games, including 20 starts for Oklahoma City and Corpus Christi. LeBlanc had appeared in four games for Houston after being claimed off waivers from Miami in June.
