The Kliff Kingsbury era is about to begin at Texas Tech.

The former Red Raiders quarterback is entering his first season as coach at his alma mater, and he has fans excited for the first time in years. Ticket sales are reaching record levels.

Texas Tech is coming off an 8-5 season and coach Tommy Tuberville left to coach at Cincinnati. That opened the job for the 34-year-old Kingsbury, who spent last season as offensive coordinator for Texas A&M and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.

The Red Raiders open their season Aug. 31 at SMU.
