Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross left Sunday's 9-5 loss against the New York Mets with a dislocated right hip.

Ross was trying to beat out a grounder in the first inning but stumbled and fell to the ground.

He was lifted by a stretcher onto a cart and driven off the field. Martin Prado switched from third base to left field while Matt Davidson, making his major league debut, took over at third.

While the mishap was initially reported as a right leg injury, it was later downgraded upon further examination.

Ross is hitting .278 with eight home runs and 38 RBI in 93 games this season.
