What they said at the PGA Championship - Third round

Rochester, NY – Henrik Stenson continues to enjoy a massive turnaround that could see him return to the top 10 in the world rankings on Monday.

Stenson at one point rose as high as fourth in the rankings, but lost his game and tumbled outside the top 200. That decline was in the middle of a victory drought that lasted from the 2009 Players Championship until last year's SA Open Championship.

That win in November 2012 propelled him into a stellar 2013 season. Though he has yet to win this year, Stenson made the cut in all four majors and finished in the top-25 in the previous three.

Stenson has racked up seven top-10 finishes worldwide, while missing only two cuts. In his last four starts, his share of 10th at the BMW International was his worst finish.

"Golf is definitely a whole lot more fun than it was, you know, back in 2011. It's more fun to show up at the races with a good gear box and a good set of tires, you know," Stenson stated. "Yeah, I'm working ahead, getting closer to where I want to be and playing some good golf again. Yeah, we are a good ways in that direction, for sure."

Stenson is clearly having more fun these days. And it's easy to have fun when you've broken par in 18 of your last 20 rounds, including six of seven in major championships.

Here's what other players said after the third round of The PGA Championship:

- ADAM SCOTT, the Masters winner tripped to a 72 in round three, but is still in contention: "It's not quite as good as I would like to be. I would like to be leading. Four back is well within reach. Mickelson ended up winning the Open by quite easily being four back. Anything can happen in a major. We just saw the pin spots get tough today and scoring in the final groups was very difficult. With so much danger around, it's hard to be completely free where major pressure on the line. Tomorrow is going to be similar. If I get off to a good start, I feel like my game is in good enough shape where I can carry that through and shoot a number."

- JONAS BLIXT, whose drive on the 18th hole landed in a gentleman's back pocket: "I've never seen anything like that. It was very fortunate that he was standing where he was so I didn't have to deal with too many trees and stuff like that. Hit a good 5-iron. I didn't know how to stop it and I tried to get it as close as possible to the pin. Got a lucky bounce up the hill and trickled to three feet."

- STEVE STRICKER, could become the oldest first-time major champion on Sunday: "There's a lot of great players up there on top. Furyk is obviously playing well. Adam Scott is up there. Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun. We have got 18 holes, so there is a lot that can happen in that stretch of golf. Just have to be patient and go out there and hopefully get off to a good start and get right in the mix real early."

- RORY MCILROY, carded a 3-under 67 to move into the top 10 through three rounds: "My short game has been really, really good. It was just a matter of trying to get a long game in shape. I wouldn't say that that was my best ball striking round out there by any means, but I got it up and down when I needed to and that was the most important thing."

- TIGER WOODS, describing his disappointing round: "I didn't start off very good and I didn't finish very good. So the bookends weren't very good and in the middle part I was grinding just to kind of hang in there around par."

- KEVIN STREELMAN, on his win earlier this year: "It was huge, I would say. It was my sixth year out here and I felt it was time. I felt comfortable in that situation. I told a lot of people that I had been in that situation enough times and not come through that I was just going to go out there and give it my all. If I didn't come through again, it wouldn't be that big a deal. I went out there free swinging and hit a lot of great shots, was able to bring it home."
