Cincinnati, OH – The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 31, with a strained right knee.
Quentin has not played since July 30. It's been a struggle for Quentin this season as he has been dealing with injuries to his shoulder, wrist and both of his knees. This will be his second stint on the disabled list this season.
He was also on the paternity list for the birth of his son and served an eight-game suspension in April for charging the mound against the Dodgers' Zack Greinke.
The 30-year-old outfielder was hitting .275 with 13 home runs and 45 RBI in 82 games.
The Padres recalled outfielder Jaff Decker from Triple-A Tucson to take Quentin's place. He made two pinch-hitting appearances on June 20 and 21, drawing a walk and reaching base on an error, respectively. This will be his third stint with San Diego this season.
