UCLA defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa will miss the upcoming season while recovering from hip surgery.

Bruins coach Jim Mora confirmed Odighizuwa is done for the season after UCLA's first training camp practice Wednesday at Cal State San Bernardino.

Mora says the senior isn't "physically or emotionally" ready to play after going through two surgeries on his hip. The second surgery was more difficult than Odighizuwa expected, Mora says.

Odighizuwa, known as "Owa," has been a key reserve for three seasons on the Bruins' defensive line. He made 44 tackles last season and emerged as a rising star while UCLA won the Pac-12 South and made the Holiday Bowl.

But Odighizuwa had surgery on his left hip after the season, and needed another procedure after spring practice.
