Oakland, CA – The Oakland Athletics have designated infielder Adam Rosales for assignment.
The move clears a spot on the 25-man roster for infielder Alberto Callaspo, who was acquired from the Angels in a trade on Tuesday.
Rosales was designated for assignment for the second time this month. The Athletics also used the roster move in early July. He cleared waivers, was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on July 12 and had his contract selected by the A's just last week.
In 50 games for the Athletics this season, Rosales was batting .193 with four homers and eight runs batted in.
