The New York Yankees recalled David Adams from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre on Wednesday after placing fellow infielder Luis Cruz on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee.

Cruz is batting .182 in 16 games for the Yankees, who signed him earlier this month.

Adams made his major league debut with the Yankees in May and hit .190 with two homers in 35 games before being optioned to the minors on July 8.
