Mauer placed on paternity list

Anaheim, CA – The Minnesota Twins placed catcher Joe Mauer on the paternity list Wednesday to attend the birth of his twins.

Mauer was a late scratch from the lineup on Tuesday against the Angels. He flew back to Minnesota after receiving word that his wife went into labor.

Catcher Drew Butera was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to fill the vacant roster spot.

Butera is hitting .215 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games with the Red Wings.
