So when Indy's team owner started rebuilding last season, he changed the plan. Instead of relying on a high-flying, high-scoring offense to beat opponents, Irsay decided the way to get more frequent February celebrations was with a more balanced offense and more of a money balance between offensive and defensive players.
With the Colts ready to report to training camp Saturday, Irsay is about to find out if this will work.
He spent tens of millions of dollars in free agency, the bulk of it to give Andrew Luck something Manning rarely had — an equally good defense and a upgraded special teams unit.
