The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that cornerback Eric Wright failed his physical.

Thus, the trade last week where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sent Wright to San Francisco 49ers has been voided. The Buccaneers released Wright following the news.

As a result, the 49ers will not send an undisclosed 2014 draft pick to the Buccaneers.

Wright was the Cleveland Browns' second-round pick in 2007 and started all 10 of the games he appeared in last season in Tampa Bay. He had one interception and seven pass deflections.

The 27-year-old has played six seasons with Cleveland, the Detroit Lions, and Tampa Bay. He has 14 interceptions and 70 pass deflections in 85 career games (81 starts).

Wright was projected to start across from Darrelle Revis, who the Bucs acquired from the New York Jets in April for a 2013 first-round pick and a 2014 conditional pick.
