The National Football League has suspended Indianapolis Colts tight end Weslye Saunders for the first eight games of the 2013 season for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.

It's the standard penalty for a second offense. Saunders was suspended for the first four games of the 2012 season for violating the PED policy.

Saunders will be eligible to return to the Colts' active roster on Nov. 4 following the team's Nov. 3 game against the Houston Texans.

The 24-year-old Saunders played in 11 games last season. He played in 16 contests for the Steelers in 2011.
