A person familiar with the decision says McNeese State Athletic Director Tommy McCelland has been hired for the same post at Louisiana Tech.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because no announcement has been made. Louisiana Tech says it will announce its selection at 12:30 Eastern time in Ruston, La.
McClelland, a Louisiana native, has been the permanent athletics director at McNeese State since March 2008, after serving as interim athletic director and assistant athletic director of internal affairs. He has overseen school records in football season ticket sales and the Cowboys have won Southland Conference titles in several sports, including football, during his tenure.
Louisiana Tech's previous athletic director, Bruce Van de Velde, announced in late June that he was stepping down.
