Liverpool, England – Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard signed a contract extension on Monday that ties him to the club until 2015.
Gerrard had one year left on his previous deal, but the extension will see him remain with the club he joined as a nine-year-old until his 35th birthday.
"I think everyone knows what it means to me," Gerrard told the club's official website. "I've been here that long and so to extend, it's a big day for me and I'm really happy for myself and my family. It's great news.
"It lets me know the club thinks an awful lot of me and want me here. I'm glad it's all done and it's happened at the right time before the season, so I can just focus on playing as well as I can."
The 33-year-old midfielder made his Liverpool debut in 1998 and has scored 159 goals in 630 games for the Reds.
During his time at Anfield, Gerrard has helped the club win the Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups.
