Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will not play in the All-Star Game due to a left thumb injury.

Freeman was voted into the All-Star Game by a record number of fans on Thursday. However, Freeman sustained a jammed thumb on the first play of the game in Saturday's 5-2 win over Cincinnati.

Major League Baseball announced Sunday that Braves catcher Brian McCann will replace Freeman on this year's National League All-Star roster.

This is the seventh career All-Star selection for McCann, who is hitting .291 with 12 home runs and 32 RBI in 53 games this season.
