Maria Sharapova has hired tennis legend Jimmy Connors as her new coach.

Sharapova, ousted in the second round at Wimbledon, just parted ways with Thomas Hogstedt and Saturday revealed her new coach on her personal website.

"I am happy to announce that Jimmy Connors will be my new coach," Sharapova wrote. "I have known Jimmy for many years and we briefly worked together in 2008 just before the Australian Open. I am really excited about our new partnership and looking forward to the upcoming tournaments."

Sharapova is currently ranked second in the world and has a pair of titles with three runner-up finishes this year. She lost to Serena Williams in the final of the French Open before her surprising loss to Michelle Larcher de Brito at the All England Club.

Connors, an eight-time Grand Slam champion, was Andy Roddick's coach in 2007 and 2008.
