The Miami Marlins have reached an agreement with North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran, the sixth overall selection in last month's 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft, prior to Friday's signing deadline.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Major League Baseball's recommended signing bonus for the No. 6 spot was $3.52 million.

Moran capped an outstanding three-year career with the Tar Heels by being named a finalist for the 2013 Golden Spikes Award recognizing the nation's top amateur player. The 20-year-old earned ACC Player of the Year honors after batting .345 with 13 home runs and an NCAA-best 91 RBI in leading North Carolina to a No. 1 overall national seed and a College World Series appearance as a junior.

The Rye, NY native also led the Cape Cod League with 42 RBI during the summer of 2012.
