Bronx, NY – Derek Jeter could be headed back to the disabled list after playing just one game.
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman announced Friday that the 39- year-old shortstop will sit out this weekend's three-game series against the Minnesota Twins with a Grade 1 quad strain.
Jeter suffered the injury in his long-awaited season debut on Thursday. He missed the first three-plus months of the season while recovering from a fractured left ankle before returning as the designated hitter and going 1- for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in New York's 8-4 win over Kansas City. However, he couldn't make it through his first game due to what was initially termed as "tightness" in his right quad.

Cashman said Jeter will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break and didn't rule out the possibility of the veteran returning to the DL.
