Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly come to terms on a two-year contract with center Andrew Bynum, who missed the entire 2012-13 season due to balky knees.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer was one media source to report the agreement, which is reportedly for two years with $6 million guaranteed in the first year. The second year is a team option. ESPN reports Bynum's deal is laden with incentives and could be worth up to $24 million.
The Philadelphia 76ers traded for Bynum last summer, but he never took the court for his new team after spending his first seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 7-foot center had arthroscopic surgery on both knees in March.
The 25-year-old Bynum had also been fielding offers from the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks.
He missed only six games in a shortened 2011-12 campaign that saw him average career highs of 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds, but he has played a full season just once in his career after being selected by the Lakers with the 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Bynum will play for Mike Brown, who was the head coach of the Lakers during the 2011-12 season.
