Houston, TX – The Houston Rockets have reportedly been fined $150,000 by the NBA for unauthorized public comments regarding the contract agreement the team has with free agent center Dwight Howard.
Team aren't allowed to discuss publicly about a player's signing until the moratorium is lifted on Wednesday, when the new league year opens for business.
ESPN first reported the fine for the Rockets. General manager Daryl Morey and head coach Kevin McHale were both quoted over the weekend regarding Howard's verbal commitment to sign a four-year, $88 million contract with the Rockets.
The seven-time All-Star was the most coveted free agent of the 2013 offseason.
The Houston Chronicle reports the team will hold a news conference on Saturday to announce Howard's signing.
