Rony Martinez and Marvin Chavez scored on opposite sides of halftime to lift Honduras to a 2-0 victory over Haiti in Gold Cup action at Red Bull Arena on Monday.

Martinez struck early, needing just four minutes to open the scoring, while Chavez added an insurance goal 12 minutes from time to see Honduras claim all three points and climb to the top of Group B.

Trailing Honduras with one point apiece are El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago following their 2-2 draw on Monday.

Keon Daniel got Trinidad & Tobago off the mark in the 11th minute before a brace from Rodolfo Zelaya gave El Salvador the edge, but Kenwyne Jones evened the score with an equalizer in the 73rd minute.

Group B play resumes at Sun Life Stadium on Friday with Honduras taking on El Salvador and Haiti facing Trinidad & Tobago.
