Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia 76ers have named Scott O'Neil the organization's new chief executive officer and head of business operations.
O'Neil will oversee the team's business operations and also serve as an alternate governor. He was most recently the president of Madison Square Garden Sports, guiding the business operations of the New York Knicks, NHL's New York Rangers and WNBA's New York Liberty.
In addition, O'Neil has a Philadelphia background, having previously worked in sales and marketing with the NFL's Eagles. He is also a graduate of Villanova University.
"We believe that Scott's unique blend of experience, relationships and demonstrated leadership over the past two decades at the NBA, Madison Square Garden Sports and the Philadelphia Eagles will make him the perfect CEO of our business as we work to take the team to the next level," said 76ers managing owner Josh Harris in a statement Monday.
O'Neil will take over on July 16 and will replace Adam Aron, who will move on to a new role as CEO of an investment vehicle funded by the Sixers' ownership group. Aron will also remain a co-owner and board member of the club.
