The Detroit Pistons will hire former player Rasheed Wallace as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.

According to a Detroit News report, Wallace will work primarily with the teams' young big men -- Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

The 38-year-old played for the Pistons from 2004-2009 and helped the team win the 2004 NBA Finals. Wallace also helped Detroit reach the Eastern Conference finals in five of his six seasons with the team, including a pair of conference championships.

Over 1,109 career games with the Pistons, Washington Bullets (1995-96), Portland Trail Blazers (1996-04), Atlanta Hawks (2004), Boston Celtics (2009-10) and New York Knicks (2012-13), Wallace averaged 14.4 points 6.7 rebounds per contest.
