Milwaukee, WI – Ike Davis earned a demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas after a miserable start to 2013. He will now get another chance at the big-league level.
The New York Mets recalled the first baseman on Friday and he will join the team in Milwaukee for a three-game set with the Brewers.
Davis struggled badly to a .161 batting average with five homers and 16 RBI in 55 games before being sent down on June 9 after New York was swept at home by the Miami Marlins.
The 26-year-old has found some solace in the desert, however. In 21 games with Las Vegas, Davis hit seven home runs and knocked in 13 runs while batting .293 with the 51s.
Josh Satin has boasted a .353 batting average with seven RBI and a .468 on- base percentage filling in for Davis. He expected to move into a platoon role against left-handed pitchers.
Davis hit a team-leading 30 home runs with the Mets last season. To make room on the roster, the Mets optioned pitcher Gonzalez Germen to Las Vegas.
