Los Angeles, CA – The Cleveland Cavaliers and free-agent forward Earl Clark have agreed to terms on a two-year, $9 million contract, the Los Angeles Daily News reported Thursday.
Clark comes to the Cavs off a solid 2012-13 season with the Los Angeles Lakers in which the 25-year-old posted career-best averages of 7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while starting 36 of his 59 regular-season games. The former first- round pick was acquired by the Lakers from the Orlando Magic as part of last August's blockbuster trade that also sent All-Star center Dwight Howard to Los Angeles.
The Lakers had reportedly been interested in retaining Clark, but the cap- strapped franchise wasn't able to match the $4.5 million annual salary he'll receive to join recent No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett in Cleveland.
Clark, who spent the first two seasons of his five-year career with Phoenix, has averaged 4.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 14 minutes over 197 NBA games.
