San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon was voted the Major League soccer player of the Week on Monday for Week 18 of the 2013 season.

Gordon played the hero in last Saturday's California Classico against the Los Angeles Galaxy in front of more than 50,000 fans as he came off the bench in the 64th minute and scored a pair of goals to lift the 'Quakes to a 3-2 victory.

Three minutes after the Galaxy made it 2-0 in the 65th minute, Gordon headed home a cross from Shea Salinas in the 68th minute to bring San Jose within a goal.

With the Earthquakes down a man, Shea Salinas tied the game in 92nd minute when he hammered home a deflected save from Galaxy goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini.

In the final minute of stoppage time, San Jose's Sam Cronin chipped a cross into the penalty area and Gordon headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Earthquakes the win.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
