The New York Islanders added physical forward Cal Clutterbuck at Sunday's NHL Entry Draft, sending former first-round pick Nino Niederreiter to the Minnesota Wild as part of the trade.

The Isles also received a third-round pick (70th overall) in this year's draft from the Wild.

Clutterbuck, who was a teammate of Islanders star John Tavares at the junior hockey level with the Oshawa Generals, has notched 62 goals, 48 assists and 337 penalty minutes over 346 career games for Minnesota.

A former third-round pick by the Wild in 2006, the 25-year-old Clutterbuck had just four goals and six assists in 42 games with Minnesota last season. He set career-high marks in 2010-11 with 19 goals and 15 assists.

Niederreiter, meanwhile, was the fifth-overall pick of the 2010 draft, but the Swiss winger only has two goals and one assist over his first 64 NHL games. He posted a minus-29 rating in 55 games with the Islanders in 2011-12 and spent this past season playing for New York's AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.
