Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto left Friday's game against the Texas Rangers with tightness in his right lat in the second inning.

Cueto exited after making 29 pitches and had a 1-2 count on Mitch Moreland when he left with nobody out in the second. Tony Cingrani relieved Cueto, who was on the disabled list April 15 - May 19 with a strained right lat and again earlier this month with a strained right shoulder.

Cueto, who was the club's Opening Day starter for a second straight year, came into Friday's game with a 4-1 record and 3.21 ERA.
