They didn't pick until No. 41 and used the choice on San Diego State's Jamaal Franklin.

He could've gone as early as 18th based solely on talent. He has some character issues, but could replace Tony Allen if he bolts via free agency. An absolute steal.

Timma is a wing from Latvia. The only way he's making it to the United States this season is if he vacations in Vegas.

Memphis also traded Darrell Arthur, a capable bench big, and the 55th pick, to the Denver Nuggets for Kosta Koufos, the starting center for a 57-win team. He will be great spelling Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.

Franklin and Koufos should help a bad bench. They'll need all the help they can get since Arthur was their second-best second-unit guy.

With Lionel Hollins shockingly unemployed and Dave Joerger at the helm, things won't change much philosophically. Defense will be preached. Koufos should help with his toughness and rebounding, while Franklin is a lot of offense waiting to happen off the bench.
