The players who knocked out Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon are going home themselves.

Sergiy Stakhovsky and Michelle Larcher de Brito each lost their encore performances Friday, two days after taking two of the game's biggest names out on the grass courts at the All England Club.

Stakhovsky fell 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 to 37th-ranked Jurgen Melzer, while Larcher de Brito lost 7-5, 6-2 to 104th-ranked Karin Knapp.

Only two days earlier, Stakhovsky used his serve-and-volley style to knock out Federer, the seven-time champion, in four sets on Centre Court. And Larcher de Brito matched Sharapova groundstroke for groundstroke in sending her packing.

Neither was as sharp in the follow-up and both players conceded that, yes, the whirlwind caused by their victories made it tough to come back.
