PSG tabs Laurent Blanc as boss

Paris Saint-Germain have appointed former France national team manager Laurent Blanc to the same position, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Blanc, 47, joins the reigning French champions on a two-year contract and will take charge of the club on July 1.

He led Bordeaux to the Ligue 1 title in 2009 before assuming control of the French national team from 2010-2012, guiding Les Bleus to the quarterfinals of the 2012 European Championships.

Blanc takes over for Carlo Ancelotti, who steered Les Parisiens to their first domestic league title since 1993-94 last season.

"PSG is a great opportunity for me. It's a great club," Blanc said. "(The project) is very interesting. I'm going to do what I want, and that's train."

"The board of Paris Saint-Germain have given Laurent Blanc the mission to build on last season and continue the club's ascendency towards the summits of the European game," a club statement read.
