A day after his third Challenge Tour win of the year, Brooks Koepka posted a 36-hole total of 5-under 134 to win the last British Open qualifier at Sunningdale Golf Club.

Koepka carded a 1-under 69 on the Old Course, then posted a 4-under 65 on the New Course at Sunningdale to grab the top spot at the qualifier.

The American mixed six birdies and five bogeys in his first round. On his second 18, Koepka carded five birdies and a lone bogey to shoot 65.

His playing partner, Oliver Fisher, took second in the qualifier as he shot 70-65.

Gregory Bourdy, Richard McEvoy, Gareth Maybin and Alvaro Quiros shared third at minus-3. Niclas Fasth and Scott Jamieson tied for seventh at 2-under 137.

Ross Fisher, Alejandro Canizares, Tano Goya and David Drysdale shared ninth at 1-under 139.

Fisher and Drysdale were eliminated on the first extra hole, then Goya 2- putted for par on the second extra hole to earn the ninth and final spot from this British Open qualifier. Canizares missed the green and failed to get up and down for his par.

Among those that failed to qualify were Jeev Milkha Singh, Thomas Levet, Tom Lewis, Paul Casey, former U.S. Open champ Michael Campbell, Paul McGinley and Jose Maria Olazabal.

This year's British Open will take place July 18-21 at Muirfield, where Ernie Els will defend his title.
