Arlington, TX – Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler was activated off the 15-day disabled list Saturday after spending nearly a month recovering from a strained intercostal muscle.
Kinsler went on the DL May 19 and last appeared in a big league game two days earlier as a pinch-runner. He entered Saturday's action with a .302 average, seven homers, 20 runs batted in and 24 runs scored in 40 games this season.
The Rangers sent him to Double-A Frisco for a pair of minor league rehab games this week. He went 0-for-8 with a walk.
Texas opened a roster spot by optioning infielder Leury Garcia to Triple-A Round Rock. Garcia has batted just .176 with an RBI in 24 games, including 13 starts, for the Rangers this season.
