The CIMB Classic 2013, the first official PGA Tour FedExCup event in Asia, will move to the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, organizers announced Thursday.

Phil Mickelson and the event's past three champions, Ben Crane, Bo Van Pelt and Nick Watney, all confirmed their participation in the tournament, which will take place from Oct. 24-27 at KLGCC's championship West Course.

Last year, the event was held at the Mines Resort and Golf Club and scores were noticeably low on the short layout, with the winner Watney firing a 10- under 61 on the final day.

The CIMB Classic will award PGA Tour FedExCup Points for the first time. The newly aligned 2013-14 PGA Tour season begins in October.

"The CIMB Classic is now a marquee event on the PGA Tour calendar," said CIMB Group chief executive Dato' Sri Nazir Razak. "The event has grown from strength to strength over the last four years. This year it makes its debut as a full-fledged PGA Tour FedExCup event with an increased field and a new venue. KLGCC is a venue that will give us the scale we need to take it to the next level."
