With decision on Coyotes nearing, Bettman says NHL 'still focused' on keeping team in Arizona

With a decision on the Phoenix Coyotes possible in the next two weeks, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says the league remains focused on keeping the team in Arizona.

The NHL has chosen a new ownership group for the team, Renaissance Sports & Entertainment. But the group's deal is contingent on a new lease agreement for Arena, and negotiations with the Glendale City Council are still ongoing.

Bettman says the franchise's future is in the City Council's hands. While he wouldn't put a timetable on when a decision has to be made, the City Council has a meeting on June 25 and the NHL's Board of Governors meets two days later. Asked if a decision will be made then, Bettman said, "Maybe," adding "Stuff's going to happen."
