The Chicago Cubs acquired right-handed reliever Henry Rodriguez from the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

Rodriguez was designated for assignment by the Nationals on June 4 and went 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in 17 appearances for the club this season.

The 26-year-old has limited opponents to a .203 batting average (14-for-69) -- including a .194 mark against righties.

To make room on the roster, the Cubs designated pitcher Eduardo Sanchez for assignment.

In exchange for Rodriguez, the Cubs sent minor league pitcher Ian Dickson to Washington.

Dickson, a 22-year-old right-hander, is 2-2 with a 6.88 earned run average in 11 appearances (three starts) with Single-A Kane County this season.
