The Toronto Blue Jays placed starting pitcher Brandon Morrow on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right forearm strain.

Morrow was removed after two innings in Tuesday's game against Atlanta due to discomfort in the forearm. Morrow, who was sidelined nearly two weeks last month because of back and neck soreness, is 2-3 with a 5.63 ERA in 10 outings this year.

The Blue Jays also selected the contract of veteran hurler Ramon Ortiz from Triple-A Buffalo and outrighted pitcher Ricky Romero to the Bisons.

Ortiz returns to the big league club one day after being outrighted to the minors. The 40-year-old right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 5.01 ERA over three starts and three relief appearances in two previous stints with Toronto this season.

Romero posted a sky-high 12.46 ERA while losing both of his 2013 starts with the Blue Jays. The southpaw won 15 games and had a 2.92 ERA two years ago.
