Red Sox recall Bradley Jr.

The Boston Red Sox recalled outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket prior to Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Bradley, 23, will obtain another opportunity to play for the Red Sox this year. He made his debut with the Red Sox on Opening Day and appeared in 12 games (10 starts) from April 1-17, going 3-for-31 with three RBI and five runs scored.

Since then Bradley has played 20 games for Pawtucket, hitting .354 (28-for-79) with two home runs, nine RBI and 15 runs scored. He has made appearances at all three outfield positions and has performed as a designated hitter.

In order to make room for Bradley, the Red Sox optioned pitcher Alex Wilson to Pawtucket.

Wilson, 26, made his major league debut with Boston in April and since then has gone 1-0 with a 2.50 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 16 relief appearances.
