The Seattle Mariners optioned pitcher Brandon Maurer to Triple-A Tacoma Wednesday and recalled infielder Alex Liddi from the Rainiers.
Maurer made his major league debut with the M's on April 4, but has struggled to a 2-7 record with a 6.93 earned run average over 10 starts.
The 22-year-old right-hander was tagged for six runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 frames in his most recent start against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday.
Liddi, 24, hit .267 with nine home runs and 37 RBI over 50 games with Tacoma.
Liddi has appeared in 53 games with the Mariners, compiling a .224 average with six homers and 16 RBI.
