Boston, MA – The Boston Red Sox activated reliever Franklin Morales from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
The left-hander has yet to pitch this season, having begun the year on the DL thanks to a lower-back strain. He finished 1-1 with a 3.18 earned run average in five rehab outings for three separate minor-league affiliates.
The 27-year-old went 3-4 with a 3.77 ERA in 37 appearances for the Sox in 2012.
To make room on the roster, the Red Sox optioned pitcher Alfredo Aceves to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Aceves was 2-1 with a 6.57 ERA in seven games (four starts) this year, but recorded the win over Philadelphia on Monday night.
