The Cincinnati Reds reinstated reliever Manny Parra from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

To make room for Parra, who was originally placed on the DL with a left pectoral muscle strain, the Reds placed fellow left-hander Sean Marshall on the 15-day DL after he missed Wednesday's game versus the New York Mets due to left shoulder discomfort.

Parra, who signed a one-year contract with Cincinnati in February following a five-year stint with division-rival Milwaukee, has struggled in the early going. The 30-year-old had been tagged for seven runs -- six earned -- and 15 hits in just 6 2/3 innings spanning six appearances this season.

Marshall, also 30, has compiled a 2.57 earned run average in seven frames over 11 games this season.
