New York Jets running back Mike Goodson was arrested Friday morning on drug possession and weapon charges.

A tow truck driver called 911 after spotting Goodson and another individual in a stopped vehicle on Route 80 in Denville, N.J., just after 3 AM ET, according to state police.

Goodson's colleague, Garant Evans, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Prior to being transported to a hospital for evaluation, the 25-year-old Goodson was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Troopers searched the vehicle and found an additional amount of marijuana as well as a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Goodson was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a loaded handgun and possession of hollow point ammunition.

The Jets signed Goodson this offseason to a three-year deal. He spent the 2012 campaign with Oakland after playing his first three years with Carolina.
