Manchester City has fired manager Roberto Mancini after conceding the Premier League title to rival Manchester United and finishing the season without a trophy.

The club announced the decision on its website Monday.

The Italian is departing after less than four years in charge. He ended the club's 35-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup in 2011 and in 2012 led the team to its first league title in 44 years.

City has two games remaining, at Reading on Tuesday and at home against Norwich on Sunday.
