The Pittsburgh Pirates activated pitcher Francisco Liriano from the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday against the New York Mets.

The 29-year-old lefty had been recovering from a broken right arm he sustained back in December. Liriano will make his Pirates debut after signing an incentive-laden deal with the club back in February.

He went 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA over five minor league starts, including three with Triple-A Indianapolis, and struck out 33 batters in 21 2/3 innings of work.

Pitcher Duke Weller was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to open a roster spot.
