New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon underwent ankle surgery on Thursday.

The team said Gordon had a procedure performed in Los Angeles to alleviate pain caused by scar tissue particles. He will begin rehab immediately and will be cleared for basketball activity later this summer.

Gordon missed the first two months of the 2012-13 season with a knee injury, then led the team with an average of 17.0 points in 42 games.

The 24-year-old Indiana product has averaged 18.0 points in 247 games with the Clippers and New Orleans.
