The Cleveland Indians placed reliever Vinnie Pestano on the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Pestano, Cleveland's primary setup man, has not pitched since April 28 due to tendinitis in his right elbow. The move was made retroactive to May 1.

The 28-year-old, who ranked second in the majors with 36 holds last season, had allowed two runs over eight innings through his first eight appearances of 2013.

To fill the available roster spot, the Indians recalled pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus. The left-hander posted a 2.45 earned run average in eight games during a previous stint with Cleveland this season.
