Ted Lilly, who was supposed to start Saturday for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been put on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib cage strain.

Matt Magill will step in for Lilly and make the start against the San Francisco Giants. Magill, a right-hander, allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision in his major league debut on April 27 against the Brewers.

Lilly suffered a 12-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Monday when the lefty gave up eight hits and five runs -- four earned -- in three innings. That put his record at 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA in two starts this season.

The Dodgers also reinstated left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list so he could start Friday's game against the Giants.
