Atlanta Braves catcher Evan Gattis has been named National League Rookie of the Month for April.

The 26-year-old finished his first major league month with six home runs, 16 RBI, a .566 slugging percentage and 43 total bases -- all of which is best in baseball for all first-year players.

Gattis went deep in his big league debut on April 3 in a 9-2 demolition of the Phillies, becoming the seventh man in Atlanta Braves history to accomplish the feat. He went on to lead all rookies with five game-winning RBI in April, finished second in total runs scored, third in hitting with a .250 average and fourth in total hits.

Other rookies receiving consideration included Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller, Reds hurler Tony Cingrani and Brewers pitcher Jim Henderson.
