West Ham defender Winston Reid has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Reid, a New Zealand international, joined the Hammers after impressing for his country during the 2010 World Cup and suffered relegation in his first season with the club, but was a key contributor to the team that won promotion from the Championship the following season.

The Hammers sit in 10th place in the Premiership this term, their first in England's top fight since finishing at the bottom of the table in 2010-11, and Reid hopes he can help the club improve in the coming seasons.

"I've really enjoyed being here," Reid told the club's official website.. "It's a good club and we've done really well over the last couple of years. Now, I'm looking forward to the next two years.

"I think I have played some good football over the last two years, but that goes for the whole team as well. Hopefully we can continue that."

The 24-year-old has made 34 appearances for West Ham this season, scoring one goal.
