Edmonton Oilers right wing Nail Yakupov has been named the NHL's top rookie for the month of April.

Yakupov led all rookies with 11 goals and 15 points in 14 games, nearly matching his production over the season's first three months. He had registered 16 points from January through March.

The 2012 No. 1 overall pick wrapped up the truncated campaign by posting his first career hat trick in Saturday's season finale against Vancouver.

Others considered for the honor were Montreal's Alex Galchenyuk, Oilers teammate Justin Schultz and Calgary's Sven Baertschi.
